From the moment I met these two and we gushed over the light and scenery in their beautiful engagement photos shot in Hawaii while there on vacation - I knew that we would get along just fine! Abi and Juris have been together for a long time and the length of their love shows in the way they share conversation, look at each other and seem to understand one another on a very deep level. It was a chilly April day, but these two threw an amazing party for all of their loving family and friends! I may have shook my booty just a bit! In the midst of it all, I found myself a new top 10 wedding venue in Arlington Estate. Potential brides, check it out! It's absolutely stunning and their standard decor is amazing. If I didn't think that Melissa was truly one of the sweetest people on earth, I certainly do now! It was plain to see that not just from my perspective, but from those who know her well - she impresses upon people her joy and happiness for everything around her. And she loves Erich - which even if he wasn't a truly amazing human (which he is), that would be enough to say a lot about him! He's serious and doesn't always say much, but when he does - listen. And although "sweet" isn't the first word that comes to mind when I'm looking for descriptors for Erich - that's all I can see when he looks at her. She's everything to him + him to her. It's pretty obvious that they would do anything for one another and in each other they have found their forever. They picked a day in February to get married and it was perfect.

The whole wedding day begins with the DETAILS! This is one of my favourite parts of the wedding day because it allows me to prepare and get my creative side warmed up for the rest of the day! I photograph a bride’s details in a way that matches and extenuates the style of the entire wedding day. So, in some ways, the details set the stage for the look of the whole wedding. We know that you’ve carefully selected every detail to match your personality, so we’d like to spend ample time stylizing and shooting everything from the dress to the jewelry to grandma’s handkerchief! We've put together a few tips to ensure that your details are photographed the way you envision them.

Gather The Goods

If possible, collect all of your details before I arrive so that I can begin quickly and have more time for some “getting ready” shots of you and your girls! We've included a handy list at the bottom of this post with suggestions for what to gather.

Extra Elements

Sometimes, depending on the theme and “look” of the wedding day, there may be some extra elements that you could include when you gather your details. For example, if you’re having a rustic themed wedding that includes some wooden elements, maybe save a small piece of wood for me to use when I’m shooting your rings and jewelry. A great idea is to have your florist bring a few extra loose stems that we can incorporate into the photos, and extra ribbon is always an excellent element to add in. These little extra details can REALLY help create beautiful, consistent images.

Keep The Rings

The most common detail missing when I arrive are the rings! Moms, officiants and planners will often tell you to hand over your wedding band to the best man before the day begins. However, it’s actually better to hand it over during the bridal party portraits or before the ceremony so that I can shoot some great ring shots in the morning! If you forget, no worries, I can always shoot the ring shot later if there is extra time!

Bring The Bouquet

Don’t forget the bouquet! Have the bouquets and boutonnieres delivered to the bride’s location before the first look so that you can have your bouquet in your portraits.

Hang The Dress

If your gown is on a plastic hanger, make a note to bring a nice wooden, silk or prettier hanger. This simple detail will make a big difference in how your dress photographs.
